July 22, 2019

We took a short trip to two sites about 15 minutes south of Lunenburg, NS to Blue Rocks and to an area nearby.  From there we went to The Ovens.

Blue Rocks is a very small fishing village and the rocks are blueish/grey color.  Not a lot to see and there are no services there.  We did see a "gift shed,' not a gift shoppe, there that is on the honor system.  If you purchased something, you put the money in a box on the table.

The Ovens is a 1.5 km (about a mile) walk alone the rocky cliffs on the Atlantic Ocean.  There are a number of caves and crevices, at waters edge, that fill up when the tide is in.  The tide was out when we were there.  Some caves are accessible by uneven steps of concrete or stone.  We were told that one of the caves makes a sound of a cannon when the water rushes into it.
