May 30, 2019

Went to the Coffee Lodge at church this morning and while I was waiting for the others to arrive, Dave Ceraso came in and asked if I had my camera with me.  That is like saying, "Is Tom Brady the best quarterback?"

Well, lo and behold... there was a helicopter parked in the parking lot on the other side of the church.

It is a 1959 Sikorsy S-58 helicopter, which the Air Force designated as an H-34 Choctaw.  The pilot was from Rhode Island and loved seeing me wearing a New England Patriots hat.

They were lifting large air conditioning unit onto the high roof of the church.  Believe is or not, it is more cost efficient to use a helicopter than very large cranes due to the weight and the reach needed to put the units in place.  The last picture is of the rotor gear, which is very impressive.

May 27, 2019 MEMORIAL DAY

We have much to remember.

Our God, who provided salvation through Jesus Christ,

those who provided the cherished memories that we treasure,

and

those who gave everything for our freedoms.

It is for them that we honor today.

May 24, 2019

It has been a long time between posts.  My photo software kept crashing, due to it not being supported by the graphics card after an upgrade.  So now, I have a new computer and it is taking time to migrate to it.

I now have more time to work on it because I asked to work two days per week.  Five day weekends are great!

On my first day off, I was determined to take some pictures, and today, time only permits me to post one.

May 5, 2019

I have tried to replicate Black and White photo to see how close I could come to how Ansel Adams would do it, base upon looking at his photos.

Today, I am trying to do the same with Claude Monet, although his medium was not photography, but paint.

I have posted the picture of the Gibbs Gardens "Monet Bridge,' which is a replica of the original bridge that is in Paris and included two of many version the Monet painted.

The last is the result of my first try.

As a good friend says, "Any comments, questions, or snide remarks?"

One thing that concerns me is the amount of red in my photos and that Monet did not use any red.
