February 26, 2019

I found a waterfall that is in Suches, GA, which is between Dahlonega and Blue Ridge.  It is about a 1/4 mile hike on a trail that is mostly flat, but a little muddy and the last 50 -60 feet is up a 45 degree incline of rocks, roots, and mud.  Yesterday, it bordered on close to being treacherous.  Linda did a great job as we helped each other make the climb.

The camera was set up on the edge of a 20 foot drop off down to the creek to take the pictures of the falls

The other pictures are of the the trail and the creek that runs along it.

A 'Before' and 'After' of what I would call an Acrylic Relief Sculpture, which may be way off base but it sounds good to me, taken in an office.  The first picture is straight out of the camera photo and the second is processed with a few filters done with the ON1 Photo Raw 2019 software, which has become my 'go to' processing software.

The third picture is another shot of Toccoa Falls, which would have posted previously but missed it.  You may see this one again as I am working on modifying it.

February 17, 2019

We took a trip to Toccoa, GA yesterday to take pictures of the waterfall that is on the campus of the college.  We stopped in Clarksville for lunch at the Attic Restaurant, which we have enjoyed in the past.

When we got to the falls, we were told that I had fifteen minutes to take picture because there was a wedding that was about to start.

I could not take the pictures that I planned but was pleased for the ones that I did get.  I was planning on using a special filter for the waterfall, but will go back soon.  Then it will be waterfall first and then eating.

There are two pictures of the interior of the restaurant, which used to be an Esso gas station  Do you know how Esso got the name?  In the early 1900s, Standard Oil Company was adding services and Esso is the phonetic sound of the Standard Oil initials;  S O = es - o, Esso.

The other pictures were shots that interested me.

Here is an interesting picture that I took last fall.  It is an unusual composition.  Do you notice anything out of the ordinary?

Take a close look in the upper left hand corner.  My name is upside down.  The picture was flipped 90 degrees.  Next is the original picture, in which the trees and lily pads are a reflection in the water.

February 6, 2019

Here are a few photos from the past.  They were taken in 2013.  How time flies...

The first three pictures are of an old mill which is located about a mile off of I-75 followed by Linda at the Grand Canyon in February and fish in the Kani House aquarium.  Trust me, they were not kissing.  It was the camera angle.

The seagull was in Destin, FL and the falls is in downtown Greenville, SC at Falls Park.

February 3, 2019

Have you ever seen a picture of a water fall with silky water flowing over the falls or a body of water smooth as glass?

Most of the time, it is done by adding a filter to the camera lens.  There are many kinds of filters.  Too many to go into what is available.

Generally, the filter used to make the water silky smooth is what is called a '10-stop' filter.  I bought one and the following pictures are my first attempt using it.  I have realized that it is going to take much practice.

The first picture is of Poole's Mill covered bridge, which is about 5 miles from our home.  I have posted pictures of the bridge previously.

There are two sets of pictures of the rapids near the bridge of which the first three show the standard shot, the second with the filter, although it did not come out as I would have preferred.  The third in the series is a blend of the first two, with some minor adjustments.  As I said, I have realized that it is going to take much practice.

This is borne out in the last two photos.
