Most of the time, it is done by adding a filter to the camera lens. There are many kinds of filters. Too many to go into what is available.
Generally, the filter used to make the water silky smooth is what is called a '10-stop' filter. I bought one and the following pictures are my first attempt using it. I have realized that it is going to take much practice.
The first picture is of Poole's Mill covered bridge, which is about 5 miles from our home. I have posted pictures of the bridge previously.
There are two sets of pictures of the rapids near the bridge of which the first three show the standard shot, the second with the filter, although it did not come out as I would have preferred. The third in the series is a blend of the first two, with some minor adjustments. As I said, I have realized that it is going to take much practice.
This is borne out in the last two photos.
