We took an afternoon trip to Madison, Georgia, which is about one and a half hours away, on Saturday.  We have been there at least six times and it is one of those towns that Sherman did not destroy.  The main street has many antebellum homes and many homes that, either have been or are being, remodeled to enhance the neighborhood.

It is an easy place for walking around to view the homes, to "window shop" in the shops that surround the downtown area, or trek to one of a number of restaurants.  There is a 'Christmas Parade of Homes early in December, which is on our Bucket List.

Yikes!  I am beginning to sound like a 'shill ' for the town or a travel writer...

The county courthouse is stately and there are homes that have trees and foliage around them that make it difficult to photo.

  1. I never knew they were called antebellum homes... interesting! I watch a terrible reality show [I hate to admit this] called Southern Charm... which is filmed in Charleston SC... they have many homes in this style... they're great!

PS - I also googled the word 'shill'.

I learn a lot from you Buzzy!
